This 90s classic has held up remarkably well over time. Alicia Silverstone turned this into her breakout and most memorable role for good reason. She's charming, effervescent and delightful to watch as Cher. The supporting cast embraces the goofiness of the movie and all do a great job. You could say the movie is a satirical commentary of youth during that time but it never feels mean spirited or heavy handed. Some of the "lingo" is dated, but it doesn't matter because the whole movie is ridiculous over the top fun. Definitely worth watching.
I was 13 when Clueless was originally released and my English teacher used it as an intro to Jane Austen's novels. I loved it then, and having recently rewatched with a friend who had never seen it, I can say I still love it now. Loosely based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, it follows wealthy California girl Cher as she bounces through a year of high school in the late 90s. You'd think it would seem dated watching it in 2019, but the technology (old flip phones) or lack thereof (no GPS) isn't really that noticeable because the story and characters are so great. The soundtrack is fun, the clothes are still amazing and hilarious at the same time, and it's a fun update on my favorite Austen novel. Always worth watching!
Although filmed in late 1994, this movie really summarizes 1984-1994. Also, like Grease, you get actors in their mid-20s playing 15 year olds - which might be convincing to a 95 yo but isn’t otherwise. It’s a truly hilarious movie. Alicia Silverstone is adorable as is Paul Rudd. Al supporting actors perform flawlessly which is a tribute to good direction. Some of the things which cracked us up when this movie was first released, such as everyone pulling out cell phones, is so commonplace now that a modern audience would not even suspect that for us back in 1995 this really was too funny. I mean, we used to think that people who wandered around the streets talking to themselves were crazy. Today, it’s just people with Bluetooth. Times and technology change I guess. Do yourself a favour and watch this movie!
I was sadly permitted to watch (and rewatch countless times) this abhorrent excuse for a movie when I was a preteen. In a bout of nostalgia I rented and watched this now in my early 30s with a family of my own and I am horrified. To other reviewers who claim that those of us rating this movie poorly just don't "get it" - no, we just have well-formed consciences and know that just because a movie tries to be clever doesn't mean it isn't trash. What is amusing about 16-year olds having sex, using drugs, drinking alcohol, dressing like hookers and engaging in mean-girl nonsense? And alongside parents who don't give a fig and shirk their parenting duties? Yes, it is not lost on me that this is supposed to be a modern version of Jane Austen's Emma. Once again I say, just because a movie tries to be, and may actually be, clever, does not mean it is good or appropriate. It is absolute trash.
I didn't pick this movie--my 15-year old grandaughter did. She insisted that we'd love it. Needless to say, we DID love it.Alicia Silverstone is adorable and very believable. The message of the movie was subtle but clear. This teen girl loves helping people and has great empathy for the underdog.
This is a peek into world of girl teens and their peers. Of course it is fantastical and idealistic, but it was totally entertaining. Clueless was a movie I would not have picked on my own, but, happily, my granddaughter's insistance allowed me to enjoy something I would otherwise have missed. I loved it!
I like this movie because it is heartwarming and funny. However, I would not recommend it for a standard of morality for teens. A bit liberal around teen sexuality and alcohol and marijuana and not really representative of most kids in that age group.
Put away your pitchforks, this low rating is strictly for the actual Blu-Ray itself. I’m pretty sure the copy I received was used. Even though it was shrink wrapped, the disc was covered in grease and fingerprints with small scratches. My computer actually had a hard time reading it too and didn’t even recognize it as a Blu-Ray movie. I had to clean it pretty thoroughly to get it to play smoothly on my player.
The disc still works, but just wanted to give this as a heads up for people. I paid new prices for used quality. It’s working now, but just inspect your disc when you receive it for any issues.

I literally have watched Clueless everyday for sometime. It just is THAT good. I'm not going to say it's some deep masterpiece, but it's simply a timeless classic. It remains relevant for the simple reason that everyone identifies with these characters or simply loves the aesthetic. Never a bad choice. If you haven't watched it what are you waiting for?

This is one of those classic films that stand the test of time. With the Blu-ray version having a some extra in the Special Features section. Already have the DVD and now have it on Blu-ray yippee. Obviously I recomend it, Even though the film was set in America and me here in the UK, have lived through that era. Even if traditions in "Highschool" in the US totally totally differ from ours in the UK, I still loved the film for what it was, and the new-comers to the film industry. Pure light Hearted romantic comedy. Have fun and let it lift your day into a smile.

All and all buy this babe , humor fest of Beverley Hills!!
Well scripted movie. I always get a good feeling each time I see this movie. Throw back to the 90s. It's got the best elements of the 90s. Fashion, music, slangs the list goes on. Excellent movie not just for teens only.
